REPORTS TO: Coordinator

SALARY:?CDYSB Youth Work Scale **Apply on the website**

ROLE: The role of the project worker, under the direction of the
Project Coordinator, will be to work with a selected group of young
people being supported to remain in school. This service is a
school-based programme that operates at both primary and post primary
levels. The focus of this service is to support and work closely with
students who would, for a number of factors, be at risk of early
school leaving. The core principals of School Completion Programme are
to improve Attendance, Participation and Retention. As part of the SCP
team s/he will offer support in-school, after-school, out-of-school
and holiday provision. The ideal candidate should have the following:

* Desirably a level 7 Qualification in one of the following:
education/teaching, youth/community work, social care/science,
occupational therapy or a related discipline.
* Minimum of two years post graduate paid work in provision of
services for children/young people at risk.
* A thorough knowledge of the Irish education system and ability to
plan, implement and evaluate educational, developmental and
recreational programmes for individuals and groups of students in
primary and post primary education.
* Experience of working with children and young people in a
mentoring capacity; one to one, and in group settings.
* Skills and talents that are transferrable to developing programmes
that will engage students at risk of early school leaving.
* Experience of facilitating evidence-based/informed programmes for
children and young people is desirable.
* Excellent communication planning, organisational, networking and
report writing skills.
* Tusla Children First Certification is a pre-requisite.
* A full, clean driving license and own transport essential.
